HOW IT ALL STARTED

Meet Rachael - beekeeper, passionate mentor, and lover of our natural world

Becoming a beekeeper definitely wasn’t something Rachael had on her radar many moons ago when she started her career as a pilot and then a corporate career in luxury travel and events.

Her discovery of beekeeping was pure serendipity. After years of living in Singapore, where almost all the fresh food and veg was imported, nutritious whole foods scarce and any bee in sight fumigated with dangerous chemicals in minutes, she become passionate about nutrition and food security, which ultimately led her to beekeeping.

After completing two beekeeping courses back in Australia through John at EezyBees and the NSW DPI, and now completing a Certificate III in Beekeeping through the DPI’s Tocal College, her hobby with one hive quickly expanded to 5 apiaries with some 20 hives across the Illawarra.

So in 2021, with her husband’s support, Bee Inspired was born. Rachael’s passion and mission is to share her knowledge with others so that, like the bees, we can come together in harmony to support the sustainability of our natural world.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Meet Rachael - beekeeper, passionate mentor, and lover of our natural world

Becoming a beekeeper definitely wasn’t something I had on my radar many moons ago when I started my working career as a pilot. And still, when I began a corporate career in luxury travel and events, and moved to Singapore with my (now) husband; beekeeping was not where I imagined I’d be in years to come.

My discovery of beekeeping was pure serendipity. After years of living in Singapore, where almost all of our fresh food and veg was imported, nutritious whole foods scarce and any bee in sight fumigated with dangerous chemicals in minutes, I become passionate about nutrition and hungry to learn more. While on a mission to learn about food security and nutrition I began studying a Bachelor of Nutrition, but my attention was drawn away when I was introduced to the FlowHive.

After completing two beekeeping courses through John at EezyBees and then the NSW DPI, my hobby with one hive quickly expanded. I was mesmerised by the sense of calm and fulfillment that working with bees brings, and at a bee colony’s ability to work together to support its own sustainability.

In 2021, with the support of my beautiful family, Bee Inspired was born. It is my passion and mission to share my knowledge and mentor others so that, like the bees, we can come together in harmony to support the sustainability of our natural environment.
