Learning Overview

The Bee Inspired Teachers will greet your school at Burnetts on Barney at the start time of your excursion.

Introduction:

A Bee Inspired teacher will welcome students to their learning session, check-in to assess any prior learning (this allows us to tailor our delivery specifically to your students), introduce themselves and explain a bit about what we do at Bee Inspired.

Learning Activities will include:

  • Pollination
  • The Lifecycle of a Bee
  • Anatomy of a Bee
  • The relationship between plants and honeybees within Australian ecosystems
  • How Honey is Made

Hand-On Experience: A Visit up to our Apiary- our live working hives at Burnetts on Barney, Kiama. Students explore our live hive wearing bee suits and appropriate protective gear. This experience allows students to get up close and personal with a working hive, studying all the stages of the life cycle, how bees work together to produce honey and exposes them to the commercial beekeeping environment. Students will see a live working hive, handle frames and be immersed in the world of bees.
